Math Flower Power- Pinterest Project

Pinterest in the classroom- Pinterest is a very fun and easy way to help teachers in the classroom. Pinterest is full of ideas for activities, games, worksheets, crafts, etc. Not only does pinterest help the teacher out by giving ideas it also helps the children out. Everything on pinterest is so much fun and very unique!

Math Flower Power- After searching on pinterst for projects and activities for my "classroom" to do, I came across one very neat activity involving addition and subtraction. The flower activity allows children to see that addition and subtraction no matter which, can equal the same number. Here are my steps to this project that students will love:

Step One: Allow your students to make their flowers. Make sure the center of the flower is a number and the petals have equations on them that equal that number in the center.
Step Two: Students should make more than one flower to add to their Flower Power poster. Make sure students use different numbers in the center!
Step Three: Allow your students to make this FUN! Use different colors of paper and allow students to make their own flower garden of math!

Teachers can hang these outside their classrooms so parents and others can see what you are learning in the class! Always make math fun, it makes it so much easier to learn! This activity was very fun to make and also helps children learn their addition, subtraction and how they relate! You could also use this for multiplication and division!
